Cinematographer. Director. Storyteller
Hello! My name is Bryce Docherty. I’m a cinematographer and director from Chicago, IL. After losing both my parents to cancer, I realized each day was never a guarantee. Deciding to go all in on my passion for filmmaking, I never thought it would cultivate so much self-growth and teach me about the world as well as myself.
I specialize in character driven documentaries and making people comfortable in front of my camera. Gaining someone’s trust, helping elevate their voice in a project that can have a positive impact on the world, is why I do what I do. I believe that any story can be related to when we humanize it, furthering our connectedness as a species. Art is how we make sense of life and I’m beyond thankful to be able to create for others.
Many of the projects I work on are for the social good or create an emotion that the audience will connect with. For me, exploring the human connection and what makes us the way we are is what always drives my creativity. I prefer to use natural light when available and realism to help ground the story in reality, further connecting the viewer. Good looking images are important, but more paramount is how they make you feel.
